As unsympathetic as he was, Edwards was a bit of a tragic figure. He was tenacious, had an exemplary work ethic and, although he was unburdened by conscience in matters of veracity in business, he was an honest fellow when not engaging in business. Of course, a multi-level marketer is seldom not engaging in business, at least not while awake. He could have made an excellent salesman - or country preacher - but four years of Amway perverted a potentially fine salesman into a con-man (or evangelist into cult recruiter).
