Rather than an animal lover, it would be more accurate to describe Gwen as one who had a serial infatuation with pets. Gwen would come home with cages of guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils, plus hay, feed and cage-toys, only to grow tired of taking care of them after a week or two when the novelty - temporarily - wore off.
